Thirty Years and Counting of Sun, Fun and Sea Music!

Problem: How best to celebrate 30 consecutive years of sea music at Mystic Seaport?

Solution: How about more than 30 musicians from all over the world performing live for four days and three nights?  Problem solved.

Mystic Seaport is proud to present its 30th annual Sea Music Festival from Thursday, June 11 through Sunday, June 14. Join us for daytime workshops and evening concerts of both traditional and contemporary maritime music as brought to you by musicians from Australia, Canada, England, the Netherlands, Scotland and various regions of the United States.

Hear the Mystic Seaport Chanteymen perform at our 30th annual Sea Music Festival.

But we wouldn’t be Mystic Seaport if we didn’t provide fun for the whole family. Children’s workshops and other special activities will be held in the Museum’s Discovery Barn and aboard the tall ships Joseph Conrad and L.A. Dunton. Children will be able to create paper hats, banners and even their own musical instruments which they can proudly display while marching in our children’s parade Sunday afternoon at 2:45 p.m.

We have also partnered with the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the University of Connecticut at Avery Point to bring you the 30th annual Music of the Sea Symposium on Friday and Saturday (June 12-13). Featuring local scholars, the symposium explores the relationship and interaction between the sea, music and song. The first day of the symposium will be held at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London and will be free and open to the public. The symposium continues on Saturday, June 13, right here at Mystic Seaport (Museum admission required).

All day performances and workshops are already included in your regular Mystic Seaport admission and do not require additional tickets. New this year, we are offering a reduced admission price for college students: only $15 upon presentation of a current student ID! Evening concerts require separate tickets and can be purchased online or at our main gate.
